Salaparuta

A land shaped beetwen wind and light. Here, where everything begins.

Among the rolling hills of inland Sicily, where the wind sweeps across the ridges and sunlight defines every season, lies a landscape of quiet beauty and authenticity. This is Salaparuta, a land where viticulture has found its purest expression in Catarratto, one of Sicily's most historic native grape varieties.

In the heart of the Belìce Valley, Salaparuta unfolds across gentle hills and limestone soils that reveal a different side of Sicily—far from the coast, yet deeply rooted in its Mediterranean identity. Here, vineyards stretch between 450 and 480 metres above sea level, benefiting from varied exposures, dry conditions and constant ventilation.

It is a place where the wind shapes the landscape and gently accompanies the ripening of the grapes, preserving their freshness, elegance and distinctive character.

Nature follows the rhythm of the seasons. Bright days, cooler mountain evenings and mineral-rich limestone soils create the ideal balance for cultivating Sicily's native grape varieties.

Among them, Catarratto finds its natural home. It is here that Lalbìra comes to life, expressing the essence of the land through delicate aromas of orange blossom, jasmine and citrus, supported by vibrant freshness and a refined mineral character.

The landscape of Salaparuta is a mosaic of vineyards, olive groves and cultivated fields, constantly changing with the seasons. Limestone reflects the Mediterranean light, while steady breezes keep the vines healthy and cool nights encourage slow, even ripening.

Together, these natural elements produce grapes of remarkable aromatic intensity and balance, allowing the territory to express itself with clarity and authenticity.

Lalbìra is born here, where Catarratto meets a landscape defined by light, wind and limestone soils. Every vintage reflects the identity of a place that quietly preserves one of the most authentic expressions of western Sicily.

A white wine that embodies the spirit of Salaparuta: bright, fresh, savoury and deeply connected to the land from which it originates.
