It is here that Lalbìra was born, a single-varietal Catarratto created as a tribute to one of the most captivating figures in the history of this land: Madonna Albìra. Lalbìra - A Rediscovered Story
The story of Lalbìra traces its origins back to the Middle Ages, when the lands of Salaparuta were dominated by an ancient fortified estate. According to local tradition, Lady Albìra, a young noblewoman, received these lands as part of her dowry. Each day, she would look out from the tower across the vineyards stretching through the Belìce Valley, admiring the richness and beauty of the landscape. Inspired by this enduring legend, Lalbìra takes both its name and its label from a woman who has become a timeless symbol of the territory and its deep-rooted bond with winemaking.
For centuries, these hills have preserved a rich heritage of landscapes, traditions, and culture that continues to define the identity of Salaparuta DOC.
