Mandrarossa Vineyard Tour 2019
A weekend spent between the sea and the vineyards, on the trail of the flavours and the identity of a region that not only produces wine but imparts strong emotions.
A trip through the vineyards and across the unspoilt beaches of Menfishire, enhanced by sporting activity in the open air, music, wine-tasting, bike-rides and local food typical of Sicilian gastronomic traditions.
It all begins from the Cantine Settesoli winery welcome point, where information is freely available regarding activities, including hiring a bike for an excursion along a cycle path or taking part on a tour of the winery. From this moment on, the Mandrarossa Vineyard Tour provides one experience after another, from the rolling hills of Menfi to the beach at “Giache bianche”; this is the unspoilt setting for an event that every year shares with its guests the ritualistic thrills of the grape-harvest in an atmosphere of conviviality and the discovery of a new land.
Armed with clippers and baskets and accompanied by tales as told by our staff, the guest is suddenly thrust into the world of the vineyard and begins to experience the grape-harvest personally. For sports enthusiasts there are excursions by boat or on horseback, wind-surfing or other activities that enable you to discover and enjoy the omnipresent natural world. For lunch or dinner, Mandrarossa Vineyard Tour’s guests can sample typical dishes prepared by the ladies of the Brigata di Cucina Mandrarossa, who hover ever-present over the degustation area. Here, in the shade of the pine-trees of the Pinete Molinari and Pelella, dishes from the local Menfi tradition are accompanied by Mandrarossa wines, to a backdrop of live music in an atmosphere of total relaxation, where there is also a play-area devoted entirely to young children.
The other exclusive location is the Casa Mandrarossa, where, along with various other food and wine events, the technical wine-tasting takes place, under the watchful eye of the experts from the sector. This is a unique opportunity for wine-lovers who want to discover the world of Mandrarossa wines, ranging from autochthonous to international, from innovative to speciality, and finally the Contrada wines, of course, accompanying a good glass of wine with a classic local dish. A novelty in the 2019 Vineyard Tour was MandraChef, the cooking show featuring Andrea Lo Cicero, a Mandrarossa honorary guest and ex-rugby player for the national team, and Valeria Raciti, winner of Master Chef 2019; the two celebrities battled to see who could prepare the best dishes. Then there was the Wine Dinner, with a special menu devised by Valeria Raciti, an exclusive dinner under the stars, 4 courses accompanied by 4 Mandrarossa wines, to the strains of live music in the background.
